Annual Reports

All companies, government departments, charities and NGOs have to publish statutory information about their annual performance. Ultimate responsibility lies with the Company Secretary but all the trustees are responsible. It is currently the PR department in the form of the Marketing Co-ordinator that co-ordinates the Annual Report. NWR aims for the Annual Report to describe our work, our aspirations and a demonstration of the impact of what we've done. We do not see it as just a statutory obligation - it is also an essential PR and marketing tool. A copy is sent to each Local Organiser of an NWR group.

An Annual Report is the responsibility of the Board of Trustees and should provide the basic information about the organisation: covering its aims, founders and members. NWR’s Annual Report aims to combine a strong link with our past together with a focus on progress in the present and our vision for the future. Thus the Trustees’ Report sets out objectives, activities and achievements with a positive statement about the uniqueness of NWR. It includes details of NWR’s management structure, including the names of trustees and the staff. It shows how the organisational structure and how the activities link to the accounting reports.

Because a financial commentary is essential we aim to make financial information user-friendly with a financial overview: a concise summary for those who will not study the accounts in detail. There is a growing emphasis on accountability, to give a 'true and fair view' of the charity's financial activities and position so these summarised financial accounts must have the Trustees’ formal approval of the auditor’s statement. A separate copy of the full Accounts is available from the NWR Office.
